Hank Crawford was an American alto saxophonist, pianist, and arranger who was born on December 21, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee. Crawford started his career as a sideman for Ray Charles, and he played on many of Charles' hit records in the 1950s and 1960s. Crawford also recorded numerous solo albums for various labels.
