The album showcases Shorter's virtuosic saxophone playing, as well as his talents as a composer and bandleader. Each track transports the listener to a different realm, from the ethereal and dreamlike 'Dindi' to the explosive and frenzied 'Non-Stop Home.' The rhythm section of bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Jack DeJohnette provide a solid foundation for Shorter's explorations, while Guitarist John McLaughlin adds an otherworldly touch with his use of guitar. 'Super Nova' came out in 1969 on the heels of Shorter's involvement with the great Miles Davis group and is one of his top 10 albums for sure.
