Peppermint Harris
Sittin' In With
Rare 1978 private (green) label original. Peppermint Harris was born in 1925 in Texarkana, Texas. He was influenced by T-Bone Walker, Memphis Slim and Roosevelt Sykes. These tracks were originally recorded in 1947 with Elmo Nixon on piano, Ed Wayley on sax and Kalvin Owens on drums. Imagine yourself shuffling into an old dusty bar off highway 61 to shake the long ride off your bones and through the walls you hear a saxophone seeping into the night. As you brush through the doors you're immediately hit by the rhythm section just barely keeping time. Floating over the music sings the lyrics of old reckless blues and of how things could of been. This ain't no jukebox this the real thing. This is from a time when music was played from the heart. And you can feel it on this record. Electronically transcribed from the original 78's. Highly recommended.
