She's Low Clouds
Sealed 1974 Original. Unable To Confirm Exact Pressing. “She's Low Clouds Finds Shock Dabbling In The Same Muscularly Melodic Songwriting As On Her Debut. The Original Production Team And Many Of The Players Are Back, Too. The Album Is Distinguishable From Hollywood Town Primarily For A Couple Tracks ("Come Inside, Cowboy," "I Want Your Time") Which Take A More Country-Influenced Approach. Again, It Is The Incredibly Strict Adherence To Craft, In Terms Of Both Music And Words That Lifts Schock Above The Competition. Where Most Singer/Songwriters Are Content With Lazy, Imperfect Rhyme, Schock Often Rhymes As Many As Five Words In A Stanza, All Perfectly. Example: "Pride/ Hide/ Purified/ Open Wide/ Come Inside" From "Come Inside, Cowboy." It's Even More Enjoyable When She Gets Carried Away, As On The Frisky "Play It Again": "I'm Just A Starving Musician/ Who's Just Had My Favourite Food/ And I've Been Rocked And Rolled/ And Pigeonholed And Gently Moved/ And Simply Told And Gospelled, Souled And Rhythm And Blued". At This Point, Schock Was To Helen Reddy What Laura Nyro Was To The Fifth Dimension; Reddy Promptly Recorded "Mama," One Of The Finest Songs On She's Low Clouds, For Her Hit Album Music, Music. It Also Became A Stalwart Of Her Live Shows.” AMG – Charles Donovan
