"Scoop" is a double album compilation of demos, outtakes and unreleased material by British musician Pete Townshend, who is best known as the guitarist and primary songwriter for the rock band The Who. The album was released on June 18, 1983, on Atco Records.

The material on "Scoop" spans Townshend's career from the early 1960s up to the time of its release in 1983. The album features many of Townshend's best-known songs, including "Pure and Easy," "Bargain," "Behind Blue Eyes," and "Let's See Action," as well as previously unreleased tracks such as "Politician," "Heartache," and "Holly Like Ivy."

The idea for "Scoop" came about when Townshend was rummaging through his archive of old demo tapes and studio recordings. He realized that he had a large collection of material that had never been released, and he decided to compile it into a double album. The title "Scoop" is a reference to the fact that many of the tracks on the album were "scoops" - unreleased songs that fans had never heard before.

The album was received positively by critics and fans alike, and it has since become a cult classic among Townshend's fans. The success of "Scoop" led to two more compilations of Townshend's demos and outtakes - "Another Scoop" in 1987 and "Scoop 3" in 2001.
