Sands Of Gold
1964 Rainbow Color Band Stereo Original With Sample Copy Sticker On Back Jacket. "Webb Pierce's '60S Albums Are All Cut From The Same Cloth -- Some Are Better Than Others, But If You Like One You'll Probably Like Them All. Sands Of Gold Yielded Three Top 20 Country Hits: The Dreamy, Tropical-Flavored "Sands Of Gold," The Perfectly Wistful "Those Wonderful Years," And "If The Back Door Could Talk," Which, Despite Its Modern Production Flourishes, Sounds Like A Song Pierce Would Have Recorded In The '50S. Although Many Critics Act As Though Pierce Fell Off The Earth After 1959, He Was Still A Very Visible And Commercially Relevant Country Artist At This Point, And The Title Track Even Bubbled Under The Pop Top 100. The Album Tracks Are Mostly Covers Of Other Recent Country And Pop Favorites, Such As The Number One Hits "Don't Let Me Cross Over" And "Roses Are Red (Violets Are Blue)," But Pierce Has Such A Unique Voice It's Fun To Hear Him Walk Through These Performances. Sands Of Gold Is One Of Pierce's Best Albums Of The '60S." All Music Guide - Greg Adams.
