Rough Notes On High Stress
Sealed 2001 Original. “Poppy Retro-Style Punkers Computer Cougar Only Made This One Record, But It Is A Pretty Solid Showing That Sees The Band Wrangle Experimental Sounds And Straightforward Punk Grooves Into An Appealing Package. Featuring Rorschach's Lead Screamer, Charles Maggio, And Current Guitarist For Major-Label Rockers Ours, Dave Milone, The Band Is Not Really All That Similar To The Elements That May Have Led To Or Come From Them. Only Two Of The Eight Included Tracks Make It Very Far Over The Two-Minute Mark, But What Takes Place During The Short Bursts Is An Energetic And Wholly Melodic Outpouring. Sporadic Guitars Tumble Into Noisy Realms, And Solid Basslines Anchor Tracks That Seemingly Are Ready To Burst Into Chaos At Any Moment. Somehow The Pieces Hold Together And The Multiple Vocalists Add Even More Depth To The Continuously Expanding Stylistic Adventure (Even If The New Jersey Natives Do Somehow Manage Bizarre British Accents From Time To Time). Rough Notes On High Stress Is For The Most Part A Bouncy And Fun Record And "Leonard Street Revival" And "The 8 Month Festival" Are Particularly Worthwhile Contributions, As The Group Manages To Create A Danceable Groove With Plenty Of Convincing Early Punk Attitude And Uncommonly Thriving Upbeat Musical Ingenuity. Computer Cougar Came And Went Without Too Many Folks Taking Notice, But They Left Something To Be Remembered By, And It's Really Quite Appealing.” All Music Guide - Peter J. D'Angelo.
