Monda Harris²
Sealed 1975 Original With Cut Out Hole. “In The 1960s And 1970s, Songwriter/Producer Dick Monda Kept Busy As A Person Behind The Scenes -- The Artists Who Recorded His Songs Ranged From Tom Jones, The Righteous Brothers, And Kenny Rogers To Them. However, Monda's Own Vocal Trio, Monda Harris 2, Bombed Commercially. Employing Monda On Lead Vocals And Sisters Kate And Patti Harris On Background Vocals, This Self-Titled Debut Album Of 1975 Fell Through The Cracks. But That Isn't Because Of A Lack Of Decent Material; Inadequate Promotion Was No Doubt The Culprit. Harris Wasn't Afraid To Write Fun, Playful Rock & Roll Tunes, And The Material On The Record's First Side Fits That Description. Monda Isn't Taking Himself Too Seriously On Exuberant Items Like "Nasty Lovin'," "Get To The Grits," Or "Monkey Monkey (In The Coconut Tree)," Which Finds Him Putting His Spin On The Familiar "Signifyin' Monkey" Fable. But, On The Other Side, He Favors A Laid-Back Soft Rock Approach. Regrettably, This Little-Known LP Turned Out To Be The Group's Only Release; Monda Harris 2 Never Recorded A Second Album. And It's Also Regrettable That The Record Went Out Of Print So Soon After It Came Out. Nonetheless, Monda Harris 2 Is Worth Acquiring If, By Some Chance, You're Able To Track Down A Copy.” AMG - Alex Henderson
