Ford, Lita
Prior to the release of "Lita", Ford was a member of the all-female rock band The Runaways in the late 1970s. After the band disbanded, Ford embarked on a solo career and released her debut album "Out for Blood" in 1983, followed by "Dancin' on the Edge" in 1984. However, it was "Lita" that brought Ford mainstream success, reaching No. 29 on the Billboard 200 chart and being certified platinum in the United States.
The album showcased Ford's guitar skills and her transition from a heavy metal sound to a more radio-friendly rock sound. The album's lead single "Kiss Me Deadly" reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became Ford's signature song. The follow-up singles "Back to the Cave" and "Close My Eyes Forever" (a duet with Ozzy Osbourne) also charted well.
Overall, "Lita" is considered a landmark album in Ford's career and in the history of female rock musicians. It solidified her status as one of the most influential women in rock and helped pave the way for future female rock artists.
