Although the eponymous album was published without a title, it is generally referred to as 'Skull and Roses' due to the iconic cover art by Alton Kelley. The band originally wanted to call the album 'Skull F*%k', but not surprisingly, Warner Brothers objected. The album became the first Dead record to be certified gold by the RIAA.
